Please review our Payment Policy before placing an order on polkal.com. By purchasing from us, you agree to the terms below. Polkal is powered by Shopify Payments.
Payment Options
We accept all major credit and debit cards, leading digital wallets, and Shop Pay Installments for eligible purchases. Available methods at checkout depend on your location, device, and order total.
Accepted Methods (Worldwide)
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Meta Pay, and PayPal. Shop Pay Installments is also available — interest-free for eligible orders. Longer-term financing options are available at checkout.
Important: Card data is never stored on Polkal's servers. All payment processing is handled by Shopify Payments through PCI DSS Level 1 certified infrastructure.
Processor & Security
Polkal's payment processing is handled by Shopify Payments — the integrated payment platform used by hundreds of thousands of Shopify-powered stores worldwide. Card data is processed by Shopify and its underlying infrastructure (Stripe), routed through systems certified to PCI DSS Level 1, the highest tier of payment card security.
Your full card number and CVV are never stored on Polkal's servers. Payments are processed over TLS-encrypted connections through the same infrastructure that secures Shopify's largest merchants. 3D Secure (Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode) is used wherever your bank supports it.
Charge Timing & Currency
Payment is authorized and captured at the time you place your order — not at the time your order ships. The charge appears on your statement immediately, the funds are committed when the order is placed, and if you cancel before shipment, the refund process begins right away.
Prices on polkal.com are displayed in US Dollars (USD). The currency you are charged in is always USD. Your bank or card issuer handles any currency conversion using their own exchange rate. If you are paying with a non-USD card, your bank may apply a foreign transaction fee — typically 1–3% depending on your card. Polkal does not receive any portion of that fee.
Shop Pay Installments
For larger purchases, Shop Pay Installments lets you spread the cost without paying interest on the standard plan. Simply select Shop Pay at checkout and split your order into 4 interest-free payments every two weeks. For larger orders, longer-term monthly financing is available with rates and terms disclosed at checkout before you commit.
Note: Shop Pay Installments is operated by Affirm, not Polkal. Their terms and conditions govern the financing portion of your purchase. The standard 4-payment plan typically has no credit score impact. Longer-term financing may include a soft credit check and interest charges, both shown at checkout.
Declined Payments
If your payment is declined at checkout, your order is not placed and no charge is captured. Common reasons include:
- Billing address does not match the address on file with your bank
- Insufficient funds or available credit
- CVV entered incorrectly
- 3D Secure verification not completed
- Card expired
- Bank flagged the transaction as unusual — often for first-time international purchases
If you see a pending charge on your statement after a declined order, that is a temporary authorization your bank will release — typically within 1–7 business days. Polkal has not received those funds.

Taxes
Sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your shipping destination. We collect sales tax in states where Polkal has a tax obligation. Shopify calculates and displays the applicable rate on the checkout page before you complete payment.
International orders do not include US sales tax but may be subject to customs duties and import taxes upon delivery. These charges are the customer's responsibility. Please refer to our Shipping & Delivery Policy for more details on international duties.
Fraud Screening
For your protection and ours, Shopify Payments runs each transaction through automated fraud screening. Most orders pass through instantly. Occasionally an order may be held for manual review — we will email you if we need additional verification — or declined automatically if your card issuer or Shopify's fraud filter determined the transaction was high risk.
Common reasons for a held order include mismatched billing and shipping addresses, a first-time customer making a high-value purchase, or unusual purchase patterns. A quick email confirming your order details usually resolves it within one business day.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders we believe may be fraudulent. Any payment captured on a declined order is refunded immediately.
Refunds
Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund & Return Policy. When a refund is approved, we issue it within 3 business days of approval to the original payment method used at checkout. Your bank or card provider may take an additional 5–10 business days for the funds to appear on your statement.
If you paid via Shop Pay Installments, the refund is first applied to your remaining installments, then to any installments already paid. If all payments are complete, the full refund is returned to your card or bank.
Chargebacks
If you do not recognize a charge or have a concern about a payment, please contact us before filing a chargeback. We can almost always resolve payment issues faster and more completely than the bank dispute process.
Charges from us appear as "POLKAL" or "SP * POLKAL" on your statement. Many unfamiliar charges turn out to be real orders placed by a household member or a forgotten purchase.
To resolve any issue, email us at contact@polkal.com with your order number and a description of the concern. We typically respond within one business day. If we are unable to resolve the issue, you retain your full right to dispute the charge with your bank. However, chargebacks filed without contacting us first can take 30–90 days to resolve and may result in us declining future orders from the disputing account.
